Civil & Construction Surveys

Setting-out, monitoring and as-built survey for civil and structural works — keeping construction on line, on level and on record, on and off the mine.

What it is

Civil & Construction Surveys — engineered for accuracy.

Construction depends on the survey that puts the design on the ground: setting out foundations, structures, roads and services to the correct position, line and level, then verifying as the work proceeds. Survey House provides this for surface infrastructure on mines and for civil and construction projects generally.

The work spans the full project life — establishing site control, setting out the works from the engineering drawings, monitoring during construction, and capturing accurate as-builts. The group has set out and designed major access roads, so the discipline runs from greenfield earthworks to finished structures.

Where the original design and the as-built must be compared, scanning and conventional survey are combined for a complete quality check. The same rigour applied to shaft steelwork is applied to concrete, structures and earthworks.

FAQ

Civil & Construction Surveys — frequently asked questions

Clear answers to the questions clients and search engines ask most about this service.

What is a setting-out survey?
It is the process of marking the positions, lines and levels from the engineering design onto the ground so that contractors build the structure in exactly the right place — the reverse of measuring what already exists.
What is an as-built survey?
A measured record of what was actually constructed, captured on completion or in stages, used to confirm compliance with the design and to inform operation and maintenance.
Do you do civil work outside mining?
Yes — the company has extensive civil and construction survey experience and applies the same accuracy standards to infrastructure projects, including road design and construction control, as to mine work.
